Des Moines, Columbus, and Puyallup will host Goodguys for three of the summer’s biggest automotive events, with thousands of cars and spectators in attendance
PLEASANTON, Calif. (June, 2022) – Goodguys, the organizer of America’s favorite car shows, returns for its three biggest events of the season this July: Des Moines, Iowa, on July 1-3, Columbus, Ohio, from July 8-10 and Puyallup, Washington, on July 22-24. Goodguys car shows have become synonymous with summer for car fans, bringing together collector, custom and specialty vehicles across makes, models and generations in a family friendly format. The three July tent-pole events anchor the 17-show 2022 season and will feature all the Goodguys action, along with special fan-favorite displays such as Mustang Madness in Columbus.
The summer kicks into full swing in Des Moines for the 31st annual Speedway Motors Heartland Nationals. Over 4,500 hot rods, muscle cars, trucks and imports built through 1997 will be on display over the Fourth of July weekend. The CPP Autocross Series will also stop in Des Moines, with racing all weekend long.
The 24th Summit Racing Nationals in Columbus is the biggest event of the year, with over 6,500 automobiles expected. The Columbus event will also celebrate the Mustang with a special Mustang Madness display. One hundred of the best Mustangs will be chosen to participate in the special display from among entrants, who are encouraged to submit their cars here. For Camaro fans, the legendary ’69 Camaro “Big Red” will be in attendance. Considered to be the first pro-touring car, the 2,000 horsepower Chevrolet is capable of reaching 266 mph.
Also in Columbus, Goodguys will award Street Rod and Street Machine of the Year. Street Rod of the year is open to any street rod through 1948 vintage while Street Machine of the year is decided among builds model year 1954 through 1997. Both are judged based on overall fit, form and functionality.
Also at the 24th Summit Racing Nationals in Columbus, Goodguys will announce the winner of the 1985 Chevy C10 Goodguys 2021/2022 giveaway truck built by Goolsby Customs. The 2022/2023 Goodguys giveaway vehicle, a Roadster Shop-built 1988 Chevrolet Silverado, will also be unveiled for the first time to the public.
After the show in Columbus, Goodguys will depart on the Hall of Fame Road Tour, starting in Santa Rosa, California, and ending in Puyallup, Washington, traveling between July 14-21. The 65 participating hot rods, trucks and muscle cars will then join the Goodguys Griot’s Garage Pacific Northwest Nationals in Puyallup from July 22-24 for one of the biggest car shows in the Pacific Northwest.
“The Goodguys calendar reaches a crescendo at these three events,” said Goodguys COO Andrew Ebel. “Goodguys is about the people as much as the cars, and we expect both as far as the eye can see. We are excited to share special displays within the event like Mustang Madness as well. You can’t miss these stops.”
