Held November 16-17, the Cities in Motion Leadership Conference brings together leaders of the urban mobility revolution
Los Angeles (November 16, 2017) – Recognized for his revolutionary contributions to automobile manufacturing, the Petersen Automotive Museum presented Divergent 3D CEO Kevin Czinger with its first ever “Pete Award” at the Inaugural Cities in Motion Leadership Conference. The conference is part of LA CoMotion, a unique five-day event bringing together the global leaders of the urban mobility revolution which is being held until November 19in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District. The Conference attracts policymakers and industry players from around the world to discuss the mobility revolution.
As Divergent 3D’s founder, lead inventor, and CEO, Czinger has transformed car manufacturing, creating a new production system that incorporates 3D metal printing. Realizing that manufacturing presents a bigger economic and environmental threat than car fueling, Czinger patented his production platform to radically reduce the materials, energy, and capital needed to build a car. The manufacturing system was named Frost & Sullivan’s “2016 Technology Innovation of the Year” and a Google Solve for X “Moonshot” for its disruptive impact on global transportation.
“The ‘Pete Award’ is presented to an outstanding leader in innovation for the future of the automotive industry,” said Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “Because Kevin perfectly embodies this award, it was our pleasure to acknowledge his groundbreaking accomplishments.”
An initiative of the NewCities Foundation, LA CoMotion gathers the global pioneers of the new mobility revolution to stimulate an essential dialogue about the future of transportation. The exclusive event, reserved for international policymakers and industry players, features curated discussions about how urban mobility is set to transform every city in the world, large and small.
“We salute the great Petersen Automotive Museum on the occasion of the launch of the first-ever Pete Award celebrating innovation in the automotive industry,” said Chairman of the NewCities Foundation and Founder & Chief Curator of LA CoMotion, John Rossant. “We are also delighted that this award is taking place at LA CoMotion — which is all about innovation in mobility. And I can think of no worthier recipient than Los Angeles’ own Kevin Czinger and Divergent 3D.”
Rossant launched the NewCities Foundation in 2010 with the belief that stakeholders need to collaborate to improve the quality of life and work in 21st-century global cities. Since its inception, NewCities’ mission has been to generate and scale ideas and solutions through events, research, and urban innovation projects to form a better urban future for all.
