Officially kicking off the fifth annual Luftgekühlt show, this VIP reception will celebrate the legacy of the Porsche 964 after its debut at
Frankfurt Auto Show in 1988
Los Angeles (March 19th, 2018) – Continuing the monumental success of its newest Porsche exhibit, the Petersen Automotive Museum will host “Luft X Petersen – 30 years of the 964” on Friday, April 20th during the weekend of Luftgekühlt 5. This VIP reception will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Porsche 964’s debut at the 1988 Frankfurt Auto Show.
Featuring a rare collection of air-cooled Porsches, the celebration will include a video projection wall on the third floor, DJ and live music, event photo opportunities, gourmet food, and an exclusive gift package. Guests will also have an opportunity to speak with Porsche dignitaries and sample specialty cocktails in the museum’s rooftop penthouse.
The event will conclude with a panel discussion emceed by racer Justin Bell and featuring guests such as Luftgekühlt co-founder Patrick Long and other iconic Porsche legends.
“Celebrating the popularity of the Luftgekühlt show, our VIP reception will offer guests another opportunity to revel in the magnificence of iconic Porsches,” said Petersen Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “This event will not only serve as the official kickoff to Luft 5 but also commemorate the long-lasting effect of the marque on Southern California enthusiasts.”
Representing all the air-cooled Porsches in the automaker’s history, the Luftgekühlt show is an immersive car culture event focused on a meticulously curated list of historically significant or interesting race and street cars—from the Pre-A 356 through the 993-model line. Co-founded by two-time Le Mans winner Patrick Long and acclaimed Southern California creative director Howie Idelson, the small meetup has grown into a cultural phenomenon in the greater Los Angeles area.
