The special event on December 9th will feature a reading and signing of the new book, which teaches kids a captivating “A to Z” lesson on car terminology.
Los Angeles (November 30th, 2017) – The Petersen Automotive Museum will welcome author Glenn Oyoung on December 9th at 11 AM for a reading and signing of his new children’s book P is for Petersen in the Rob and Melanie Walton Discovery Center. Co-written by Oyoung and illustrator Scott Park, the new book offers kids a fun alphabetized lesson on automobile lingo.
Debut of the book follows the success of last year’s C is for Car, a vehicular alphabet book for gearheads and future gearheads alike. Teaching children to appreciate reading, writing, and revving a car’s engine, the book combines Park’s striking illustrations with Oyoung’s wordsmithing, putting the car world in terms that kids will understand.
This year, Oyoung and Park have returned with P is for Petersen, which offers children a visual “A to Z” guide exploring the different styles and uses of cars. To kick off its launch, Oyoung will read the book to kids and their parents at the Petersen Museum. Afterward, families will have an opportunity to purchase the book and have it signed by the author.
“Educating people about the wonders of the automobile is our top priority at the Petersen Automotive Museum,” said Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “Being able to share these lessons with children is one of the many perks of this job. I’m truly grateful for the authors, who have created a book that is both fun and educational, inspiring kids to fall in love with cars.”
Residing in Los Angeles with his wife and two daughters, Oyoung is the founder of Turn 3 Creative, a design and merchandising firm that works with clients and licensors, including the Petersen. Obsessed with cars since childhood, Oyoung could be found playing with Hot Wheels or sketching cars. He co-wrote P is for Petersen along with fellow enthusiast Park to ensure that his two daughters and other children would grow up to learn the joys of automobiles.
Access to the event is free with paid museum admission. To learn more about the special book signing and the Petersen Automotive Museum, please visit www.petersen.org.
