Oxnard, Calif. (November, 2016) — The International Historic Motoring Awards have chosen to bestow its fifth annual Award for Personal Achievement to Peter Mullin, in recognition of his service to the automotive hobby, his impeccable taste as a collector and his philanthropic endeavors. Mr. Mullin, who is the founder of the Mullin Automotive Museum and chairman of the Board of Directors for the Petersen Automotive Museum, was on hand at the Guildhall in London on Thursday, November 17 to accept the award.
The Personal Achievement Award is designed to celebrate the accomplishments of the individual in the automotive industry who has made the greatest benefit to historic motoring and classic car culture in the last twelve months. Anyone in the industry is eligible to be nominated but those who win have accomplished something truly special.
“It is a great honor to be singled out by such a prestigious group of enthusiasts and industry professionals,” said Peter Mullin, founder of the Mullin and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Petersen. “It’s been my personal goal to elevate the classic car hobby to the heights that it deserves. Cars should be celebrated as art and it seems as though we’ve done that with the Mullin Museum and the Petersen Museum.”
Peter Mullin’s personal achievements over the last twelve months are many and include serving as the chairman of the board of directors of the Petersen and overseeing the institution’s transformation into the world’s preeminent automotive museum. Mr. Mullin has also been the driving force behind the automotive museum bearing his own name and has worked to bring that institution’s collection out to the public, both on the concours and at the race track.
