The event continues to grow as electrified owners experience King of the Hammers by utilizing sustainable zero-carbon green renewable energy to recharge their vehicles between trails
MILWAUKEE (Feb. 7, 2024) – The second annual OPTIMA Unplugged powered by Clarios event wrapped up on Friday after two days of trail rides, meeting new friends, entertainment and a record number of electrified vehicles off-roading. Hosted during King of the Hammers week in the OPTIMA Oasis at The Forty, this ultimate gathering of electrified enthusiasts was a chance for guests to see how capable their EV and hybrid vehicles are during two days of trail rides in Johnson Valley, California.
This year’s event featured more EVs than ever, including Rivian, Tesla, Ford, Jeep and Kia vehicles. With 67 vehicles out on the trail rides, drivers could check out the terrain in iconic Johnson Valley while getting off-road tips from professional drivers and experts leading the trails like Tanner Foust, Justin Pawlak, Chris Forsberg, Luke Johnson and Matt Gaskins. After Thursday’s beginner trail ride, Trailer Park Drift was presented by Tanner Foust, where professional drifter and off-road racer Amanda Sorensen took home the top prize, along with significant bragging rights.
Attendees were able to charge their vehicles throughout the event by utilizing Level 2 Wallbox chargers or Level 3 fast chargers. The zero-carbon green renewable energy was provided by Renewable Innovations’ hydrogen-powered generator named the Mobile Energy Command – Hydrogen (MEC-H) and a solar-powered Mobile Energy Command – Solar (MEC-S). Renewable Innovations’ MEC-H system can store up to 450 kWh and utilizes hydrogen to fuel generators that maintain its energy storage. The MEC-S generates 50 kW of peak power through two large solar wheels.
Later, attendees were treated to quintessential King of the Hammers entertainment like live bands, Tanner Foust’s Trailer Park Drift competition and opportunities to engage with leaders and influencers in the sustainable off-roading industry. The OPTIMA Oasis, powered by renewable, clean energy, was a 10-acre private, gated facility where Unplugged attendees could camp, dine and hang out with other electrified off-road enthusiasts.
