Christopher Polvoorde takes the overall win at the 2024 Toyo Tires Desert Challenge in his T1 unlimited class debut with an all-new OPTIMA Batteries Ford Raptor AWD Trophy Truck
What: OPTIMA Batteries-sponsored driver Christopher Polvoorde took both the 2024 Toyo Tires Desert Challenge T1 class and overall wins in his all-new unlimited #94 OPTIMA Ford Raptor AWD Trophy Truck. This was his first time competing in the unlimited-modification T1 class at King of the Hammers. His excellent prologue finish the previous day was over 12 seconds ahead of his competition and placed him first off the line for the main race. He had a strong start and led the field throughout the first lap, finishing with the quickest times on both laps. The 182-mile Desert Challenge racecourse featured two 91-mile laps, which Polvoorde finished in 3:16:57.8.
“It was a super fun race. I made an early mistake and got a flat, but we just put our head down,” said Polvoorde. “I got to give a huge shoutout to my pit guys. They’re really the ones that got this win. They got us in and out faster than Tim Herbst. They pulled me out of a bad situation. I’m super happy with this first win in my own Trophy Truck.”
