The special exhibit highlights Combs’ career as a fabricator, race car driver and television presenter. Exhibit proceeds benefit The Jessi Combs Foundation, a new organization dedicated to educating, inspiring and empowering the next generation of female trailblazers and stereotype-breakers.
Los Angeles (September 23, 2019) – On Sunday, September 22, 2019, the Petersen Automotive Museum opened a special exhibit honoring the life and accomplishments of Jessi Combs, also known as “The Fastest Woman on Four Wheels.” Admission to the exhibit is free or by suggested donation to The Jessi Combs Foundation. “Jessi Combs: Life at Full Speed” runs through Wednesday, September 25, 2019.
Located in the William E. Connor Penthouse, “Jessi Combs: Life at Full Speed” features objects from Combs’ workshop and studio in Long Beach, California. Items on display include several of her motorcycles, personal notebooks and memorabilia, original Chip Foose drawings from her time on “Overhaulin’,” welding jackets and racing helmets, as well as various accolades including her Baja and Great Race medals.
“’Jessi Combs: Life at Full Speed’ is special and unlike any other exhibit at the Petersen because it honors an extraordinary woman who left her mark on not only the automotive community but the entire world,” said Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “Visitors of the exhibit will be moved by Combs’ accomplishments and, most importantly, inspired to achieve their goals and dreams just as she had throughout her life.”
The exhibit opening marked the official launch of The Jessi Combs Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to educate, inspire and empower the next generation of female trailblazers and stereotype-breakers. Its guiding principle is the simple question, “What Would Jessi Do?”
“Jessi Combs: Life at Full Speed” is free to the general public. Visitors are still required to pay standard general admission prices if they would like to view other Petersen Automotive Museum exhibitions.
