Chevrolet Performance GM Iron Builder of The Year and Chevrolet Performance GM Retro Iron Builder of The Year awards showcase two of the finest from the Goodguys 2021 show schedule
PLEASANTON, Calif. (October 14, 2021) – Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, the organizer of America’s premier hot rod and custom car events, announces the winners of its inaugural Chevrolet Performance Builder of the Year awards. The two awards recognize the top performance-built GM and GM-powered vehicles from among the entries at 14 of the Goodguys events in 2021.
The Chevrolet Performance GM Iron Builder of The Year award is given to an exceptional GM-bodied build with GM power. The winner of this year’s award is a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle built by Bobby Alloway and his shop, Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop. It is powered by a Keith Dorton-built LSX topped with NASCAR SB2 valve covers that produces 720 horsepower and is mated to a Tremec TKO five-speed from American Powertrain. Along with the title, Alloway and his team win an LT5 Connect & Cruise crate powertrain system that includes an LT5 engine, eight-speed transmission, an LT5 engine controller kit, transmission installation kit and an eight-bolt flexplate kit, also courtesy of Chevrolet Performance.
The Chevrolet Performance GM Retro Iron Builder of The Year title recognizes an exceptional non-GM bodied build with GM power. This year, the award is presented to a cutting-edge vehicle which combined masterful build quality with extreme performance. The winning 1935 Ford built by Roger Burman, owner of Lakeside Rods & Rides, is powered by 6.2-liter LS3 crate engine cranking out 425 horsepower mated to an automatic transmission controlled with a C6 Corvette shifter. Along with the title, Burman and his team also win an LS3 Connect & Cruise crate powertrain system that includes, an LS3 engine, a six-speed transmission, an LS3 engine controller kit and a transmission installation kit courtesy of Chevrolet Performance.
Both award-winning cars will be prominently displayed at the Goodguys 24th Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals, presented by Barrett-Jackson, November 19-21 in Scottsdale, AZ.
