The new aluminum flywheels provide improved performance for a wide array of 1996-2017 Ford Mustang models
Prescott, Ariz. (Feb 12, 2024) – Centerforce, a leading manufacturer of performance clutches and flywheels for classic and late-model cars and trucks for over 40 years, has released its aluminum flywheels for 1996-2017 Ford Mustang applications. The two new Centerforce offerings are designed to replace the stock unit with a lightweight and low-inertia flywheel made from aircraft-grade billet aluminum for improved performance and bolt-on installation.
The new Centerforce aluminum flywheels are lighter than stock, delivering performance during spirited driving sessions but maintaining usability for daily drivers. Mechanically retained starter ring gears and replaceable steel friction surfaces that have been heat-treated for abrasion resistance and long life are also part of their design.
The first Centerforce flywheel kit (Part # 901206) includes a new 12-pound, 164-tooth, 6-bolt crank billet aluminum flywheel and fits 1996-2010 Ford Mustang GT applications. The second kit (Part # 901208) includes a 12.8-pound, 164-tooth, 8-bolt crank billet aluminum flywheel and fits 1996-2001 and 2005-17 Ford Mustang GT, 1996-99, 2001 and 2003-04 Mustang SVT Cobra, 2007-08 Mustang Shelby GT500, 2009-10 Mustang Cobra Jet and 2012-13 Mustang Boss 302 applications.
Both flywheels are precision dynamic balanced and dual-drilled for either 10.4-inch or 11-inch clutch pressure plates. Centerforce flywheels are CAD/CAM designed and CNC machined for a precise, no-hassle, bolt-in installation and SFI-certified for driver confidence on and off the track.
