APR’s new Stage 1 and APR Plus ECU upgrades for the 2017-2018 Audi RS3 and 2016-2018 TTRS dramatically increasing horsepower and torque
Opelika, Ala. (June, 2018) – APR has announced the release of its Stage 1 and APR Plus ECU upgrades for the 2017-2018 Audi RS3 and 2016-2018 TTRS equipped with 2.5 TFSI 5 cylinder engines. APR’s optimization of the factory engine management system takes full advantage of the engine’s capabilities, increasing horsepower and torque by significant margins. The APR Plus ECU upgrade increases horsepower and torque while adding a limited powertrain warranty.
The APR Stage 1 upgrade requires no engine hardware modifications and produces 459-542 horsepower with 451-506 foot-pounds of torque, depending on the octane of the fuel available. Gains ranging from 66-132 horsepower and 88-146 foot-pounds of torque are available throughout the power band. The APR ECU upgrades add left foot braking ability, remove the speed limiter, raise the rev-limiter, adjust the factory exhaust crackle to protect the catalyst, optimize cold start, re-tune the exhaust flap actuation for the best performance and sound in multiple modes, optimize high altitude mappings, adjust the throttle for better response and completely optimize the driving experience for street and track use.
APR’s EA855 2.5 TFSI engine software underwent almost a year of summer and winter weather durability testing on multiple continents, high and low altitude testing and extensive track development at multiple road courses and drag strips. Thousands of hours were spent analyzing fuel tables, timing information and dozens of additional variables to maximize engine performance while maintaining reliability.
An optional upgrade for the factory ECU is APR’s Enhanced Modular Chipping System (EMCS) that brings selectable programs and features to the factory system without the need to purchase external hardware switching devices. EMCS is able to completely rewrite the entire operating map data within the ECU, giving each program mode a completely different set of calibration changes. These modes include APR Performance Modes, Anti-Theft Mode, Fault Code Eraser and more. ECMS can also be enhanced with APR Mobile, an app that allows users to access programming options on the fly.
